Ball transfer units provided by Air Spares have been 
in use for many years under their original name 
Transact International.
These units are designed to support heavy loads over typical ball deck units.
Individual load carrying capability of each BTU is 500 pounds.

The design and development of these BTUs
has evolved over many years beginning with Transact International and continues with Air Spares, Inc. responding to industry demands.

Key elements of Air Spares’ BTU design that improve life and reliability are:

  • 440C stainless steel balls are tougher reducing the amount of ball bearing shattering under load, a major cause of failure.
  • Patented dirt rejection system. A primary cause
    of failure, or reduction of rolling, is the introduction of foreign contaminants such as dirt and de-icer
    chemicals into the BTU assembly. For this reason,
    our patented dirt rejection system is unsurpassed at exhausting larger particles affording high resistance to clogging.
  • Material hardness factors are a primary aspect in our design that makes our BTU’s outlasts the competition time after time.
  • Consistently smooth surface finish provides less wear promoting longer life and quieter operation.
  • Essential dimensional QA requirements assure a

ULD Container Lock

Air Spares has developed a locking device
for securing air cargo containers during loading
and unloading. This ULD container lock is currently
in service with a major North American cargo hub.
